Rapper Brinx Billions (Jawara Headley) has filed a $240 million lawsuit against Nicki Minaj, claiming she stole his song "Rich Sex" and failed to pay agreed-upon royalties for another track.

The lawsuit, filed in New York federal court on December 31st, alleges that Headley is the original creator of "Rich Sex," which appeared on Minaj's 2018 album "Queen." According to court documents, Headley wrote and produced the track in 2016 or earlier, registering the copyright in March 2020.

Key allegations include:

  • Headley and Minaj met on MySpace in 2007 and bonded over their Queens connection
  • In 2016, Headley played his version of "Rich Sex" for Minaj but never authorized its commercial use
  • The released version allegedly contains 95-99% of Headley's original work
  • Additional defendants include Universal Music Group, Republic Records, Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records, and Minaj's Tokyo Ninja label

The lawsuit also claims Minaj owes Headley 15% of royalties from their 2012 collaboration "I Endorse These Strippers," with payments allegedly stopping in 2017 despite prior acknowledgment of the debt.

Minaj has not publicly commented on the lawsuit. This legal challenge follows a previous copyright case involving her unreleased track "Sorry," which sampled Tracy Chapman's work and was determined to be protected under fair use in September 2020.
