According to the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the incident occurred after Minaj's show at Detroit's Little Caesars Arena on April 21. Garrett claims he was summoned to Minaj's dressing room, where she became upset over staff management issues, specifically regarding a staff member being sent to pick up prescriptions.
The complaint alleges that Minaj:
- Became visibly upset and screamed at Garrett
- Approached him aggressively
- Struck him on the right side of his face with an open hand
- Caused injury to his wrist during the altercation
Following the incident, Garrett reportedly:
- Locked himself in a restroom for several hours
- Was dismissed from the tour
- Attempted to file a police report in Detroit
- Eventually secured a police escort in Chicago due to safety concerns
Minaj's attorney, Judd Burstein, has denied the allegations, stating: "If the lawsuit is as reported by TMZ, it is completely false and frivolous. We are confident that the matter will be resolved swiftly in [Minaj's] favor."
The lawsuit seeks punitive, exemplary, and general damages. As of now, no official complaint has been served to Minaj's legal team.
