Nashville City Council Approves Morgan Wallen's Broadway Bar Sign Despite Recent Controversy
Morgan Wallen has received approval from the Nashville Metro Council for his Broadway bar sign, just days after his court sentencing for a chair-throwing incident.
The country star appeared in court on December 12, pleading 'conditionally guilty' to two misdemeanor charges of reckless endangerment. Judge Cynthia Chappell sentenced Wallen to seven days in a DUI education center and two years of supervised probation. Upon successful completion of probation, the charges will be eligible for dismissal and expungement.
The charges stemmed from an April 7 incident where Wallen threw a chair from Chief's bar rooftop, nearly hitting two police officers. Witnesses reported seeing him laugh while doing so, though he later released a statement taking responsibility for his actions.

Despite initial postponement and concerns over both the chair incident and his 2021 racial slur controversy, the Council approved the sign with a 30-1 vote (six abstentions). The sign will be displayed above 'Wallen's This Bar and Tennessee Kitchen' on Broadway.
