Digital art collective PleasrDAO, which purchased the album for $4.75 million, is suing Shkreli in New York after he allegedly shared copies of the album publicly. Shkreli originally acquired the album for $2 million in 2015 but was forced to forfeit it following his 2017 fraud conviction.

According to the lawsuit, Shkreli admitted on social media to making copies of the album's tracks and hosted a "Wu-Tang official listening party" livestream that thousands attended. PleasrDAO claims these actions violate the forfeiture order and significantly diminish the album's value.

The lawsuit demands that Shkreli:

  • Destroy all copies in his possession
  • Relinquish profits from sharing the music
  • Pay compensatory and punitive damages

Shkreli, known as "Pharma Bro" for raising the price of antiparasitic drug Daraprim from $13.50 to $750 per pill, was released early from his seven-year sentence but remains on supervised release. He was banned from the pharmaceutical industry in 2022 and ordered to pay nearly $65 million for antitrust violations.

The album is currently on display at the Museum of Old and New Art in Hobart, Tasmania. Shkreli's legal representatives have declined to comment on the lawsuit.
