Founded by lo-fi pioneer sagun alongside music executives Jordan Smith (S+ MGMT) and Andrew Kwan (Romantic Music Group), Arden Records has built an impressive roster including clay house, DAVI JUNO, French WiFi, Maono, mellodaze, NueBoo, pecna, Sleep Culture, The Tea Shop, Trankilo, URCHN, and wrongnumber.

The expansion comes as lo-fi music continues to gain mainstream popularity. The genre's influence is evident in recent successes like UMI's 2024 single "wherever u r" featuring BTS's V, which was produced and co-written by Arden's own sagun.

Through the new publishing division, Arden aims to:

  • Support producers and songwriters as artists
  • Create more opportunities in the expanding lo-fi genre
  • Ensure proper royalty collection for artists
  • Facilitate creative collaborations
  • Champion authentic musicianship over AI-generated content

"After three years of seeing how powerful a unified roster of artists can be, we are launching our publishing arm to explore a new creative workflow for our Arden Records' family," says co-founder Jordan Smith. The company plans to showcase how impactful alternate versions of songs can be while promoting their producers' talents.

Co-founder Andrew Kwan emphasizes their commitment to authentic musicianship in an era of AI-generated music, while sagun notes that the publishing arm will protect artists' creative rights and simplify royalty claims, allowing them to focus on their creative work.
