Live Nation Seeks Dismissal of Ex-Contractor's Sexual Orientation Discrimination Case
Live Nation has filed a motion to dismiss a sexual orientation discrimination lawsuit from former contractor Braden Maurer-Burns, owner of Drag Diva. The lawsuit, originally filed in April 2023 in New Jersey's Superior Court, was later moved to federal court.

Maurer-Burns alleges that Live Nation terminated their business relationship, which involved producing drag events, due to his sexual orientation under the pretext of "unproven allegations of harassment and misconduct." He claims the company has continued working with other performers facing similar accusations.
The lawsuit cites two violations of New Jersey's Law Against Discrimination:
- Limiting contracts with LGBT businesses and content creators
- Discriminatory treatment based on sexual orientation
Live Nation's motion to dismiss argues three key points:
- Maurer-Burns was never personally party to a contract with Live Nation
- The lawsuit exceeds the two-year statute of limitations, as the contract terminated in late 2019
- The complaint fails to establish that decisions were made based on sexual orientation
The plaintiff seeks various damages, including:
- Financial compensation
- Emotional harm damages
- Psychological injury compensation
- Reinstatement
- Legal fees and costs
- Punitive damages
