Jelly Roll, the country-rap star, has pledged to expose alleged fraudulent practices in the music industry, particularly focusing on fake streaming numbers purchased by major companies.

The artist took to social media stating, "Learned a lot about how slimy the music business is this week," confirming similar allegations made by fellow rapper Russ earlier this year. Russ had previously detailed on the "Flagrant" podcast how major record labels allegedly manipulate streaming numbers, treating fake streams as marketing expenses.

Key allegations include:

  • Major labels purchasing artificial streams
  • Discrepancies between streaming numbers and actual concert attendance
  • Industry control concentrated among a small group of executives
  • Lack of transparency in streaming manipulation methods

Russ explained the disconnect: "Album goes #1, but then they can't fill up a show. The math is not mathing." He noted that while industry executives acknowledge the practice, none have revealed specific mechanics of stream manipulation.

Jelly Roll (Jason Bradley DeFord), who previously collaborated with Russ on "Really Gone," has yet to provide specific details about his planned exposé of these industry practices.
