Grammy winner Doechii's journey from being fired to achieving musical success has resurfaced in a 2020 YouTube video titled "I got fired thank God," showcasing her determination and resilience.

In the candid video, Doechii discusses her job loss while remaining optimistic about her future. "I have nothing to lose. I have no place, I have no job, I have no children... I'm just gonna do it," she declares, planning to visit studios and seek internships.
Following the video, Doechii's career rapidly ascended:
- Released self-funded debut EP "Oh The Places You'll Go" in 2020
- Released two additional EPs (2021-2022)
- Signed with Top Dawg Entertainment
- Released "Alligator Bites Never Heal" mixtape in 2024
- Won Grammy for Best Rap Album in 2025
- Received Best New Artist nomination
At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Doechii delivered an inspiring acceptance speech: "I know that there is some Black girl out there, so many Black women out there that are watching me right now, and I want to tell you: You can do it. Anything is possible."
Her Grammy performance included hits "Catfish" and "Denial is a River," and she also earned a nomination for Best Rap Performance for "Nissan Altima."
