
GenAI Music Rights Platform Musical AI Secures $1.5M Pre-Seed Investment
GenAI music rights startup Musical AI has secured $1.5 million in funding, positioning itself as a key marketplace for AI companies seeking licensing deals with rights holders.
The company raised $2.1 million CAD (approximately $1.5 million) in a round led by Build Ventures, with participation from angel investors. Notable partners include Symphonic Distribution, Kanjian, and AI company Beatoven.

The company plans to launch a separate seed funding round in the first half of the year, building on its mission to transform AI training in the audio space through sustainable and ethical practices.
The platform's technology determines input sources for AI-generated outputs and calculates revenue distribution percentages based on data source usage. Rights holders maintain control through monitoring, takedown capabilities, and usage sunset options, while AI companies benefit from licensed data access and detailed output tracking.
