Former En Vogue Singer Dawn Robinson Reveals 3-Year Journey Living in Her Car by Choice
Dawn Robinson, founding member of En Vogue, has revealed she's been living in her car in Malibu for nearly three years - but describes it as a journey of self-discovery rather than hardship.

Robinson's transition to car living began in 2020 after moving from Las Vegas to Los Angeles. Following an eight-month hotel stay and complications with housing arrangements through her former co-manager, she researched "car life" and made the unconventional choice to live in her vehicle.
The singer maintains a gym membership for shower access and has developed safety protocols for car living. "That first night was scary," she admits, "but then I learned what to do in my car - how to cover windows and be careful about sharing personal information, especially as a woman and celebrity."
Rather than viewing her situation negatively, Robinson sees it as transformative: "I'm learning about who I am as a person, as a woman." She's currently documenting her experience for a potential Netflix documentary, emphasizing this isn't a publicity stunt but rather a reflection of changing times due to economic pressures and the pandemic's impact.
Robinson, who left En Vogue in 2011 following a dispute over a new album, briefly reunited with the group in 2019. She envisions her current situation as temporary, stating, "Succeeding again is going to be amazing. I see it in my mind."
