Jesse Collins Entertainment and Concord Originals are joining forces to create the first authorized narrative feature biopic about Robert Johnson, the legendary King of the Delta Blues. The film will explore both Johnson's real-life story and the enduring myth surrounding his musical genius.

Born in 1911 in Mississippi, Robert Johnson transformed from a dirt-poor African American child into one of the most influential musicians in history. Despite facing the harsh realities of being a Black man in the American South, Johnson channeled his experiences into groundbreaking blues music that would later influence rock legends like The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, and Led Zeppelin.

The project brings together notable talent, with "Black Girls Rock!" writer and 66th Annual Grammy Awards producer Ridgeway Wilson penning the screenplay. Jesse Collins and Dionne Harmon from Jesse Collins Entertainment will produce alongside Sophia Dilley and Charles Hopkins from Concord, with Wesley Adams and Bob Valentine serving as executive producers.

Johnson's legacy, though brief, was profound. He died at age 27, allegedly murdered by a jealous romantic rival, but his recordings later premiered at Carnegie Hall. In 1986, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, recognized as possibly the first true rock star.
