Deezer reported strong financial performance in 2024, with revenues reaching $586 million, marking a 12.7% year-over-year increase and exceeding projected growth estimates of 10%. However, total subscribers decreased by 3% to 9.7 million by year's end.

The streaming platform's growth was driven primarily by strategic partnerships, including RTL+ and Meli+, along with price increases in its Direct segment. Operating losses improved significantly, dropping to $29.76 million from over $70 million in 2023.

Key Financial Highlights:

  • France market revenue: $338.52 million (+8.6% YoY)
  • Rest of World revenue: $247.72 million (+18.7% YoY)
  • First-time positive free cash flow: $7.12 million
  • Reduced non-recurring licensing charges: €10.1 million (down from €18.8 million in 2023)

The company achieved adjusted EBITDA break-even in the second half of 2024, marking a historic milestone. CEO Alexis Lanternier noted that 2024 was a "landmark year" for Deezer, highlighting the company's progress in innovation and growth.

Looking ahead to 2025, Deezer expects to maintain positive adjusted EBITDA and free cash flow, building on its strategic vision and operational discipline. The company's improved financial position reflects successful implementation of its growth strategy and operational efficiencies.

The reduction in total subscribers suggests Deezer is prioritizing revenue optimization and profitable growth over pure subscriber acquisition, aligned with broader industry trends toward sustainable business models in music streaming.
