Consumer Groups Unite to Push Senate Commerce Committee on TICKET Act Reform
A coalition of 15 organizations, led by the National Consumers League (NCL), is urging the Senate Commerce Committee to support the TICKET Act, a bipartisan bill reintroduced by Senators Edward Markey (D-MA) and Eric Schmitt (R-MO).

The TICKET Act aims to address long-standing issues in the live event ticketing industry through several key provisions:
- Mandatory all-in pricing to eliminate hidden fees
- Ban on speculative ticketing and deceptive marketing practices
- Guaranteed refunds for cancelled or postponed events
- Required FTC study on BOTS Act enforcement
John Breyault, NCL Vice President of Public Policy, Telecommunications, and Fraud, emphasized the importance of the legislation: "Consumers deserve fair, transparent, and reliable ticketing practices, and the TICKET Act delivers just that."
The bill, scheduled for markup in the Senate Commerce Committee on February 5, represents a significant step toward protecting consumers from unfair ticketing practices. While a previous version of the TICKET Act came close to passing last year, it was ultimately blocked during the presidential transition period.
The coalition believes this legislation will create a more equitable and transparent live event ticketing marketplace, enabling consumers to purchase tickets with confidence and without fear of hidden costs or unfair practices.
