This revival follows a successful 50th anniversary special in October 2023, which drew 6 million viewers - a 54% increase from the 2022 show on ABC. The special also achieved record-breaking streaming numbers with 65 million social media views in its first week.

The 2024 show promises to honor veterans through special performances and moments. CBS has released promotional footage featuring major artists including Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, Post Malone, Megan Thee Stallion, Shakira, Rihanna, The Weeknd, and Olivia Rodrigo.

The AMAs, created by Dick Clark in 1974, previously aired on ABC until 2022. The network change comes after ABC chose not to renew its contract, leading to a brief hiatus in 2023. The last traditional ceremony in 2022 saw Taylor Swift extend her record as the most-awarded artist in AMAs history with six wins.

This move to CBS represents a significant shift for the awards show, which has faced the same challenges as other television awards ceremonies in maintaining viewership over the past decade. The specific Las Vegas venue and host details are yet to be announced.
