Brenda Lee's Christmas Classic 'Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree' Gets First-Ever Spanish Version Using AI
Brenda Lee's iconic 1958 holiday classic "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" has received a groundbreaking Spanish-language version using AI technology. The new rendition, titled "Noche Buena y Navidad," maintains the original's instrumentals while featuring AI-generated Spanish vocals that replicate Lee's distinctive singing style.

The project, announced by Universal Music Group (UMG), involved a multi-step process:
- Producer Auero Baqueiro adapted the lyrics into Spanish
- Chilean singer Leyla Hoyle recorded the Spanish vocals, matching Lee's original patterns
- MicDrop creator SoundLabs developed an AI vocal model using Lee's archived recordings
- The AI model transformed Hoyle's recording to match Lee's youthful voice
Brenda Lee, now 79, has enthusiastically endorsed the project, stating: "I am so blown away by this new Spanish version... Throughout my career, I performed and recorded many songs in different languages, but I never recorded 'Rockin'' in Spanish, which I would have loved to do."
The release represents a significant milestone in AI's application in music, following similar projects like Randy Travis's AI-powered comeback and Timbaland's Suno collaboration. UMG emphasizes their commitment to responsible AI use, supporting the NO FAKES Act while exploring new possibilities in music production.
The Spanish version is now available on major streaming platforms, marking a new chapter for the beloved Christmas classic that spans nearly seven decades.
