Fortnite has achieved a new in-game attendance record with over 14 million concurrent players during its Remix: The Finale event, featuring performances from Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Ice Spice.

The 12-minute virtual concert, which included a tribute to Juice WRLD, attracted an additional 3 million live stream viewers. Epic Games hosted two showings of the event - the main show at 2 PM ET and an encore at 8 PM ET.

The event marked the culmination of Fortnite Battle Royale's Chapter 2 Remix, which featured themed items, areas, and weekly music releases throughout November. It was preceded by a real-life performance in Times Square called Remix: The Prelude, featuring Snoop Dogg and Ice Spice.

The record-breaking attendance demonstrates Fortnite's significant promotional potential and its ability to connect different generations of music fans. While younger users may have been familiar with 24-year-old Ice Spice, the platform introduced them to veteran artists like Snoop Dogg and his 2004 hit "Drop It Like It's Hot" (modified for the platform with family-friendly lyrics).

This success follows a broader trend of gaming platforms becoming important music promotion venues. Recent examples include:

  • Licensed major label radio stations launching in Minecraft
  • TikTok expanding its artist-specific promotional efforts
  • Established artists like Coldplay utilizing multiple gaming platforms for marketing

The event's success highlights how digital platforms are becoming increasingly vital for connecting artists with younger audiences, despite some artistic compromises required for these venues.
