Founded in 2022 by Iain Cooke, Sarah Bridge, Catherine Grieves, and Nick Angel, 45RPM has established itself as a leading music supervision collective. The company recently strengthened its leadership team with Ayla Owen, former Head of Music at BBH London and ex-European VP of Sync at Warner Chappell Music, who joined as Managing Director in January.
The new publishing arm will focus on supporting composers and songwriters in film, TV, advertising, and gaming, while maintaining 45RPM's core services of soundtrack development, composer partnerships, rights negotiation, budget management, and on-camera music supervision.
This strategic partnership with UMPG offers composers and songwriters access to both specialized supervision expertise and Universal's global resources. The collaboration aims to bridge the gap between composing for screen and songwriting, creating new opportunities for artists in both fields.
"Through this collaboration, composers and songwriters can access the best of both worlds: the specialized attention and industry insight of our seasoned music supervisors, combined with the expansive reach and legacy of Universal Music Publishing," said Ayla Owen, Managing Director of 45RPM.
UMPG executives expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, with Natasha Baldwin, Executive Vice President of UMPG Classics & Screen, highlighting their unique position to support both composers and songwriters globally. Tom Foster, Senior Vice President of Film and TV, Europe, emphasized the exciting opportunities this collaboration brings for creating original songs and scores for TV and film productions.
